RE: Fluid Supplements (AT-202, 203 and 206) and Factory Warranties

At times, consumers who purchase transmission fluid supplements and/or modifiers are often told that an aftermarket brand cannot be used in the consumer’s vehicle during the warranty period. The claim is made that the use of an aftermarket brand will void the manufacturer’s warranty. This tends to cast doubt on the quality of an aftermarket fluid supplement or part.

In regards to factory warranties, when used as directed, ATP fluid supplements and/or friction modifiers are substitutes for the original factory fluids. They provide the same performance characteristics as the original equipment fluids. In addition, ATP supplements do not void any warranties.

The factory warranty is void if the wrong transmission fluid is used. Since each fluid type Dexron III®, Mercon V®, HFM Fluid, Dexron VI®, etc., has to have specific lock-up time requirements which are measurements of time, the AT-202, 203 and 206 supplements meet the OEM plate clutch friction lock-up time specifications for each specified fluid type.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act and the general principals of the Federal Trade Commission, a manufacturer may not make its vehicle warranty conditional on the use of any specific brand of fluid or part unless the manufacturer provides it to the customer free of charge. A waiver from this act can be obtain only if the manufacturer proves a certain brand of fluid or part is necessary for proper operation.

Every chemical we market lives up to its advertising claims. All of the ATP chemicals are thoroughly tested for their intended use. The same testing lab used by the O.E manufacturers is used to test our chemicals. The same rigorous tests used by the O.E manufacturers are also used to test our chemicals.
