ATP INTRODUCES NEW JEEP®
EXHAUST MANIFOLD - CHALLENGE Y by atp™

We are all aware of the inherent weakness of the original equipment tubular exhaust manifold for the 1991-99 4.0 liter Jeep vehicles.

Stress and Vibration
The stock Jeep exhaust system utilizes only two hangers for the entire system. Driving off-road or driving with a broken hanger can add vibration that stresses the exhaust manifold. Also, some aftermarket and the “California only” catalytic converters are heavier than the original equipment converter used in the 49 states.

High Heat
Many Jeep 4.0 engines run extremely lean, which means they run hot. The reformulated gasolines used in California and many large metropolitan areas contribute to this condition. High performance driving also drives up the combustion and exhaust temperatures.

New Part No. 101212 - CHALLENGE Y by atp™
Part No. 101212 incorporates a “Y” design collector. Three tubes join each branch of the “Y” and the “Y” necks down to the outlet. This design better redistributes the high heat and vibration.

Since the No. 101212 is an improved design, installation is a little different than the O.E. style. The instructions (included with each 101212) must be followed.

While the new 101212 will stand up to more punishment, broken motor mounts and exhaust hangers will shorten its life. These parts must be inspected and replaced as necessary.
